AIM
To assist participants in working in a
cognitive behavioural therapy approach in an ethical way which
matches their levels of competence, under appropriate supervision
guidance, with clients experiencing common mental health
concerns.
CONTENT OF THE
COURSE
The learner will:
1. Understand the structure of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
(CBT).
2. Demonstrate use of Psychometric tests and relevant
application to Case Conceptualisation.
3. Demonstrate use of models of Case Conceptualisation within
CBT.
4. Demonstrate cognitive behavioural processes incorporated in
mental health education.
5. Consider problem specific competencies for mental health
problems of Depression and Anxiety Disorders (including PTSD,
GAD etc.).
6. Demonstrate an understanding of Socratic Questions within
CBT.
7.Understand different approaches to CBT
8. Evaluate knowledge of recent developments in CBT.
COURSE STRUCTURE
The Advanced Certificate in CBT is an 8 day
modular programme. Learners would normally have attended a
Certificate in CBT course.
Teaching will include lectures, seminars, skills workshops,
individual and small group coaching and additional home study.
The Centre is a recognised Centre of the Open College Network
(North West) and the course is accredited by the OCN.
The Unit is titled: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Practitioner
(Theory & Skills)
NOCN Unit Code: PK23WR002 (6 credits at Level 3)
All students will receive a Course Handbook on commencement of
the course, along with support material etc.

Course fees will
include Open College Network registration, Certification and
Administrative costs.
Self-funding
applicants may arrange to pay the course fee over 8 modules of
the course. Please mention this in your application and attach a
cheque for £200.00 as deposit made out to Manchester Centre for
CBT Ltd.
